Howdy, folks!

Just woke up after last night's ARA, and here's my take on it:

I'm ashamed. The Winnipeg crowd was just not into it at all. At least
not until Ashley MacIssac got on stage, but he rendered them pretty
quiet after the first couple tunes. Wilco had quite a few of the 13000
on their feet. Unfortunately, the opposite happened for Los Lobos, who,
in my opinion, stole the show. Just ask Gord and Johnny, who were both
standing offstage, bobbing their heads to their grooves. Sheryl Crow
really impressed me. She had a lot of energy, and was very very
talkative between songs. And now for the Hip.
Their set was too short! Never have I been to a Hip show where they've
only played one encore. But other than that, they absolutely rocked ass!
Gord was very talkative, and of course, very mobile across the stage. He
majorly screwed up the beginning of Nautical Disaster, forgetting the
first verse. He got the crowd chuckling when Paul had to shuffle over
and feed Gord the first line to the song. Then Gord sang, "He has this
dream..." while motioning towards Paul. Very cool. Wheat Kings was very
moving, considering all that has happened with David Milgaard lately,
and the two new songs they played were vintage Hip. I believe they were
Save the Planet, and Membership List.
Oh, and for those of you who are wondering, yes, I did tape the concert,
and yes, it sounds pretty good. The bass is a little high, and I had
technical problems during Greasy Jungle. The show sounds a tad quiet
(not distant, just quiet), so all in all, I'll give it a B rating. As
always, if anyone is interested in it, just e-mail me!
