Another great show from the boys!  Gords hair is completely gone!! Looks
kinda like whats his name from Smashing pumpkins.. but a hell of a lot
cooler.

Anyway, All the tune were great, They ripped through a great version of
100th meridian.  Gord ranted through some new stuff or something, it
sounded like "I don't care what the poets are doing " or I dont care what
the poets are saying" cant remember for sure but it sounded great.  If
anybody knows what it was please e mail me. Now we bring  you from the
Hymalayas of your brain down to New Orleans, that was his intro for NOIS,
 they played 700ft before that.  I was unfortunately one of the ones who
breached security during NOIS, I now realize it was pretty stupid to do,
but all those empty seats under the shell needed to be filled. Like Gord
said "enjoy security and they will enjoy you"  good slogan eh.

Hip got a lot of the hippies jamming, they really liked the hip!!!Yahoo!

If anybody has a tape I would love to trade with you.
later, Doug
==========================================================
        Howdy all,

                I'm writing this from work after driving back 6 hours from
Saratoga Springs so if things seem a little disjointed, you'll forgive me.
Well, where to start?...howz bout the set list:

Gift Shop
Grace
Springtime
Ahead By a Century
100th Meridian -->
?New Song? -->
Radio Show (!!! Very cool!) -->
100th
Flamenco
700 Ft. Ceiling
NOIS -->
Best Friends -->
NOIS -->
Fire In The Hole

        Now I may have forgotten something that they might have slipped in
between Best Friends and the finish of NOIS (yes, they played the whole
thing, they didn't cut off the last part...the Lord above in this version
was Jimmy or Jimi)...I haven't had time to go back and listen to the tape...
        Yes, that's right, I have a tape of the show...Now before everyone
gets all hot and bothered about it, I have to tell you that it pretty well
sucks. The kick drum and bass are way up in the mix for some reason
(although to my ears they sounded normal) and as a result a fair bit of
distortion has crept in... Warning! IF you mail me for a copy of this show
and I actually find time to spin it for you...it's gonna sound like crap.
Nuff said about that...
        Well, not quite...actually I'm mighty pissed that the tape didn't
turn out because the Hip put on the best damn set I've seen since the
Road Apples tour!!!!! They were amazing...the long summer months of
touring have really paid off. The boys were very tight behind Gordie who was
absolutely manic. He told a little story during the extended jam in "100th",
something about Mexican and British soldiers, then another about a guy on
heroin who thinksthe drug gives him credibility (another Cobain ref.??).
Grace was absolutely the best version I've heard, ever...
        Maybe somebody who was down front can tell everyone what happened
at the start of NOIS...from where I was standing it looked like about 2000
people rushed the stage from the lawn...the band played it cool, though.
They kept on playing, which was probably good because if they had stopped,
something worse might have happened. On the upside of that (if there is one)
it looks like the Hip may have converted quite a few people...most of the
folks around me had never heard of them but definitely came away impressed.
        Well, that's about all my fatigue jangled brain can recall at this
point...more to follow if I ever get some sleep.

                                        Peace,

                                        Sean
