That was, without a doubt, the best I've ever seen the Hip play (fourth
time
this American tour, so that is saying a bit). A set list that included
Cordelia(!), Everytime You Go, Scared, Titanic Terrarium, Greasy Jungle,
The Wherewithal, and a 20-minute version of 100th Meridian (containing
bits
of five new songs). They played 8 songs from Henhouse(everything except
Daddy, Sherpa, Put it Off and Coconut). They didn't play New O, but
the
way-extended 100th more than made up for that. The Hiccup Song, which
is
what they play to intro Daredevil, is coming along really nicely. Fully
Completely - the song - was also skipped, which kinda disappointed
me. But
c'est la vie.
But they were just sooooooo tight up there, and they looked like they
were
having a great time. A couple of Gord lines that I remember -
"Tell your internet friends that #Hipchat sucks."
Talking about the election: "When you go behind the curtain, scratch
out
Bill CLinton, scratch out Bob Dole, scratch out Ross Perot. Write in
Arnold
Palmer. You need a man with a 7 iron to lead you out of the wilderness."
Oh, and the fans for this show were actually really impressive. The
pit was
really manageable, and if not for the heat would have been perfect.
My
section of the pit managed to drown out the few idiots who started
to sing Oh
Canada after the main set, and it stopped them pretty quickly.
