Bicentennial Park, Columbus, Ohio September 5th, 1998 review by Melissa via Henhouse mailing list

my friends and i drove 5 hours to see the hip at the taste! columbus festival yesterday... and if i'd known how greatthis show was going to be, i would've driven 15!!

what an experience to see the hip outside... on a Beautiful day... great food, great brew...

they opened with grace - ended with escape is at hand. somewhere inbetween, they played (in no particular order): something on, courage, twist my arm, save the planet,
nautical disaster, gift shop, ahead by a century, springtime in vienna, 100th meridian (which Rocked), poets, chagrin falls, fireworks

there was probably only about 250 people watching the show - and *maybe* 75 actually standing in front of the stage.
(though this could be completely wrong - i've never been good at estimating crowd size - all i know is that there was WAY less people than i'd anticipated)  lucky for us, we got there early enough to score front row spots.  i got (what should be) some AMAZING pictures of the band.

i'm not sure much could top this show... i would've LOVED to listen to them forever - they only played for about 1.5 hrs, with no encore - wilco played last.  truly an amazing experience, gord d. was sexy as ever...

wow. can't wait to see them again in grand rapids!!
