Well, it sounds like the Edmonton show was a mirror image of
the Red Deer
show, which is neither here nor there for me, but must have been a
touch
disappointing for Jon. I say this because: no Courage, and they
never
returned to NOIS. In the interest of journalistic integrity I
was timing
NOIS, and was quite perplexed when I heard the opening strains of Fire
in
the Hole.
I have no set list, other than this: the first four songs seemed to
follow the usual pattern, they *did* play Yawning or Snarling, and
the
encore was: Greasy Jungle, a song I can't remember, and closed with
a
truly rocking rendition of Little Bones.
Other highlights: well just about everyone there was more familiar
with
the older stuff than any DFN stuff. Not a very raucous crowd:
for the
entire first set, the upper deck was sitting, no crowd surfing on the
floor, and no stage crashing until the encore. Very enthusiastic
though: everyone singing to the older stuff.
I think the next album will be very cool. The stuff they played
in NOIS
was cool. They also played some new stuff in the middle of 100th
Meridian, which I really liked.
Lastly, I should say this: we missed Change of Hearts (and it gets
me
right here); the Odds were on stage at 8:15, off by about 8:50; The
Hip
came on at 9:15 and rocked until 11:01. I point out the
:01 b/c it
seemed to me quite odd that it was basically right at 11pm. Is
there a
curfew/noise by-law issue in this town?
On the whole, it was a great show, and a great night out. I had
never
realized who the Odds were before, but I discovered last night that
I had
heard some of their stuff on the radio, and just might buy their CD.

What a show. A can't really talk today, as my vocal chords
are on the floor somewhere at the coliseum.
What can I say? My seats were really bad, but the concert
was
just awesome! You can't beat that many people hanging out with
Canada's
best band.
The set was a little different from Red Deer, but it was more
energetic. I think the crowd really pumped them up. Gordie
didn't rant
as much, but he was still pretty insane. It was a longer show,
and in
my opinion a better show. Whew!
In the Journal yesterday, there was an interview with Gord that
kind of confirmed another "Another Roadside Attraction" type tour this
summer. I'm there! (Some of the groups mentionned as possibilities...
Sloan, Spirit of the West, Eric's Trip... who knows?)
Oh, ya... here's a cool Gordie quote:
"Some nights I tell you I wish I was out in the crowd, because
it can really smoke."
Talk to y'all later!
