Setlist....almost in order. Didn't get a copy, so I'm guessing a little bit.

Jet
Music
New O
Fully
Chagrin
Use It Up
Courage
Vapour
Weaken
IOD
Meridian
Poets
Dark Canuck
ABAC
Dire Wolf
Giftshop
Bones

Fever
Ready
Fire

Pretty good list, but not quite up there with some of the earlier dates.
-6 songs from the new one (as opposed to 5 on most of the earlier date), but that's OK...
-the Vapour and Chagrin combo from PP wouldn't be my choice but hey, that's OK too...
-definitely leaves room for Fireworks, Nautical, Locked, 50MC tomorrow night, so here's hoping.

Gord was probably in his best form for the first 4 tunes, definitely animated right off the bat...shining the window, pointing the gun, tailwagging and all out gyrating. IOD was also a highlight as he kinda slurred through the chorus at high speed, Poets featured a lot of hissing and mentioning SSSSSSaskatchewan which got the crowd into it...he went on to talk about a beer truck or a hay wagon.....couldn't really make it out. Paul and Johnny were on and Gord S and Robbie were dead on as usual....trading looks and laughs and poses. Meridian feature the Life is Forgettin bit... Giftshop was great, Bones was great....what else can I say. Standard 3 song encore...Fever and Ready didn't really rock stoke the crowd, but still OK. Gord went off again in Fire, twirling the stand, mic in his pocket and then kinda curled up in a ball....couldn't really see what he was doing from my angle.....just being Gord I guess.

Time to rest up and get ready for Monday night.

Jay

Hey Rory, really do love the website and have been waiting awhile to add a review to it.. Here is mine fromÝ sept 29th in regina.. Not sure if this was the way to send it but thought i would try

As Jay mentioned quite an unusual set. I had been studying the list of every show for the past month trying to get a handle on what they might play and i was surprised to say the least.

I love IVL so i was very pleased to hearÝ 6 songs off the new album. IN fact my main hope for the concert was that they would play the Dark Canuck, i even sent them an email requesting it but wont take credit for the playing of it.Ý It did not disappoint. Even the people who I would guess have not heard itÝ before really got into when they broke into the second part.Ý I think its destined to be a classic. The real bonus was also getting to hear Dire Wolf. What an amazing song. Nothing compares to seeing the boys live.

Other highlights for me

Making me a fan of Silver Jet as it is the only song I did not like off the new album. Had the same experience with Tiger the Lion off the last album.

For the first time ever being able to see them close up. All the other concerts I have been to they were merely shapes on the stage. This time from row 9 I finally got the view I always wanted. I could see every expression on Gords face and watch the guitar pounding up close.. Fantastic.

Gord puttingÝ some real intensity in Abac which kind of took me by surprise.Ý Very powerful. Renewed my enjoyment of that song

The blinding yellow lights pulses that seemed to go through my eyes and bounce off the back of my head during Poets. Sure to be a vividÝ memeory every time I hear that song.

The first four songs WERE very intense.Ý Great version of Fully.

The hyper kinetic blast without music on IOD.

Vapour TrailsÝ " It seems like a perfect day to lie on your back and watch the vapour trails"Ý I never expected to hear that song nor Chagrin Falls. Gord S on said on local radio they are really enjoying playing some the songs they don't usually get to with one date stops. The show really was different than any other I have seen.

Gords puzzled look on Dark Canuck. Waiting for the crowd to react then standing right on the front of the stage pointing at some guy and emphasizing " IF you need a good connection for drugs"Ý and laughing at him..Ý Then really cranking up the songs second half.

HUGE highlight!

Gords rants. Another first. I could make out every word he was saying for the first few songs. I swear he signaled for his mike to be turned down a bit because right after I thought I saw him do that he was much harder to make out. My favorite wasÝ an f word filled exchange between a guy and a girl that ended with " It was the first time baby andÝ not that good. Lets pretend it never happened"Ý There were lots of swim references.. One featured him trying to coax a girl back to shore from the middle of a lake " You gotta dig down deep baby I cant make you do it"..Ý Also " This is a song I hate, this is a song IÝ hate" was repeated about 4 times before he broke into Fire.

I have to admit that during the encore I was trying to telepathically program the boys into a version of Fireworks or Nautical disaster. But I got to hear Dire Wolf and Dark Canuck so I can't complain.Ý Plus you have to leave something for the second night. All in all a great show and unforgettable for me. I now have a whole new set of memories to draw upon when listening to them.Ý I hope they release a LIVE CD next. I think its about time too again. AND i hope they keep playing for years to come.
