It was a cool show in a great little theater. Sort of gothic decor inside (at least thats what I would call it). Gord S & Robby were smiling alot as usual. Gord D talked alot in a low mumble, but from my 2nd row spot I couldn't make much of it out. He came out in this wrinkled 3-piece brown pin-stripe suit. I should have lots of great pics once I get them developed. I'll try to post them eventually for those of you starved fans thousands of miles away. Personal highlights were Scared, El Do, TO#4 & Giftshop (great organ intro). Not to mention meeting Paul on the street earlier in the day since I work right near the venue & almost literally bumped into him. He was very nice & cool. He was on his way inside from getting a cup of coffee & hadn't even seen the theater yet so he asked what it was like. Hopefully he thought it was as cool as I do. Great place for the Hip & right in my own backyard. They were right in front of me (I was sort of be! ! ! tween the Gords dancing my ass off). It doesn't get much better than that!

They also did a live performance & interview on a local radio station in the afternoon. They sounded great playing acoustic versions of Down, Lake & Stay (although they went to commercial half way through Stay!). I recorded it if anyone is interested. I would love to trade for some other shows. Unfortunately I guess the dj who is a well-known local asshole apparently pissed off Gordie when he made some comment about canadian radio having to play canadian music by law or something. I really don't think he meant it as an insult, but I guess it was insulting to Gord & they said later on the air that he sort of stomped out without posing for any photos. I really didn't understand why they chose that station to begin with since its more of a pop, Madonna station. They have like no chance of getting played on it, but I suppose it's something their label makes them do. Anyway gotta go trudge through my day. I'll look forward to hearing some other impressions. 'Til next! ! ! time...
=================================================================
Hello everyone,

I guess I'm the first one of the Harrisburg attendees up and online (then again a lot of people came from a lot further away than I did, too!)

Obviously, the following is an opinion, and we all know the oft used expression about opinions, eh?

Last night's show at the Whitaker Centre was... awesome. I wasn't expecting it to not be, but it turned out to be about the best concert experience I've had, Hip or otherwise. The venue is fairly small, 1000-1200 seats, but the acoustics were great, at least from where I was sitting in orchestra centre, about 10 rows back (including the rows of temporary chairs they set up).

Their set began right about 9 PM, they might have been a couple of minute behind schedule, but the WC was playing "Play That Funky Music" during the break, so it wasn't so bad waiting ;-) The Hip, plus Kate Fenner took the stage and the opening song was, if I remember correctly, and I am kicking myself for not writing this down now, Putiing Down. The Hip played with nearly no break. The only technical complaint I had about the show was that the instruments were up so loud that it was impossible to hear Gord when he was just talking and not singing, which I think would have added a lot to the show if I could have heard him. The Hip played for about 75 minutes and came out twice for a combined 4 song encore, culminating in 100th Meridan and Fire In The Hole. The
house lights came up at 10:45, all in all a great night. I thought Kate's added vocals were a nice touch -- it was the first time I'd seen the Hip on this tour, so I was a little bit new to the idea, but I
thought it worked well. Hopefully someone else with enough forethought to write the setlist down or memorize it better than I did will post it.

Now, for my little request. If anyone taped the show, audio or video (I am pretty sure I saw someone videotaping(?))...please get in contact with me, i'd really like to have this show and hopefully we can work some kind of deal out?

peace love and cookies,
dave
