"Crowd surfing went out with that haircut!"

Just fininshed listening to the HOB show on the net....   nice.  The
video was okay, enhanced by the fact that I was watching while under the
influence of codeine painkillers.  Nice 'n' trippy...

Here's the setlist for the night, with some notes 'n' quotes:
Save The Planet
Twist My Arm
Courage
Membership
Giftshop
So Hard Done By
Something On
Nautical Disaster
Ahead By A Century
Bobcaygeon
Poets
Locked In The Trunk Of A Car
Fireworks
At The Hundredth Meridian (w/ Every Irrelevance)
-----
Vapour Trails
Springtime In Vienna
New Orleans Is Sinking
-----
Chagrin Falls
On The Verge

Was SO nice to hear Courage played live (y'all know I love the song).
Gord brought out the famous banana during So Hard - looked like he was
really groovin' with it! ;-o   (by the way, I cast my vote for "big
fuckin' bear").
Was a nice jam during Nautical.  Couldn't make a lot of it out but did
pick up this neat line...  "The starpainters are taking over now/The
scaffolding's in place..."  Gordie didn't sing the usual ending, instead
the jam started "when the phone rings" and carried through (don't think
he forgot the words this time - seemed deliberate).  At the end of ABAC
he picked up with "anyway, Susan" and finished ND to the tune of ABAC.
Neat.
Man was he into it tonite....  during Locked you'd swear he was in that
trunk, the way he was carrying on.  Wish I was there...
While NOIS seemed to be the launching point for many songs from 92-95 it
seems to me that 100th Meridian has turned into the breeding grounds.
Last tour it saw Poets, Chagrin Falls et al being born, sounds like he's
got some new stuff this time.  Recognized the lyrics from "Every
Irrelevance" being sung, plus some others.  An electric moment...  For
those who care, tonite it was a Canadian myth.

('Scuse me while I get on my podium for a minute):
"Would the assholes who insist on crowd surfing and trying to get on the
stage please fuck off and go somewhere else far away?!?  Try Pearl Jam
or some band who appreciates it!"--JAG, 1998
(thanks very much)

Sorry 'bout that - had to get it off my chest.  I don't mind it at shows
in small doses but it seems to be getting out of hand.  Gord's made many
comments on it lately, mostly jokingly, but I think he's starting to get
pissed.  During NOIS I was looking foward to some mid-song digression;
instead he surveyed the crowd surfers and made a few comments, then
quickly resumed the song :-(

"I thought, to be topical and a laggard at the same time:  crowd surfing
went out with Monica Lewinsky, I thought."  This at the start of the
second encore.  I always love it when they close with On The Verge.
Hearing Johnny pounding away get the blood flowin' real good  (or maybe
it's my medication...)

For the traders out there, I do have the show on tape (albeit it's only
a B or B+).  Email if you absolutely must have it, otherwise I'd wait
for the radio broadcast.  I know I am.

"Goodnight folks, do up your jackets,  it's a little chillier than when
you came in."
