This was an awesome little venue. We pulled up around 6:15, Doors at
8. Met some really cool people before hand. Also heard that a couple without
tickets ran into The Hip at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame earlier in the
day and asked if there was anything they could do about getting in. Gord
D. says How bout I put you on the guestlist, very nice of him! The wait
in line to get in was well worth it, stood front row the whole show. Wayne,
the opening band from Alabama was very good. The boys come on around 10:15
just after a little Radiohead house music. Violet Lights come down and
it was rockin from here on out. The crowd was unbelievable and were singing
along with every tune! Gord was on all night like always, dancing, rambling,
smiling, and definitely dripping with sweat from Silver Jet on. Three Pistols
was my wish and there it was, last song of the night. My favorite Hip show
to date, great holiday weekend!! Caught one of Johnny's beat up drum sticks.
Well, would write more but the sun is coming up. I'll
be at Darien Lake for Sunday's show. Don't know if it will top this
one but will be good for sure.

I attended the HIP show on Friday August 30/02 in Cleveland and wanted
to give you my comments. I am one of the many Canadians who go to school
in Cleveland now and I have attended 3 previous concerts - 1 at DTE/Pine
Knob, 1 at Cobo Hall and 1 in Toledo. I had 6 friends make the trip down
from Windsor to join me at the concert. The Odeon was a great venue, small,
air-conditioned and beer was fairly cheap. The opening band, Wayne were
good, we even bought their CD on the way the out and talked to them on
the street after the concert. The crowd went crazy when the HIP came out
and then we all went blind when those white lights came on during Silver
Jet. The set list was great, a little new and a lot more old. The crowd
was singing and sweating along with Gord except the people who were sitting
in the balcony who I don't think moved the whole night. We met some great
people in the crowd from Buffalo (nice homemade shirts), Hamilton (smoking
a little weed) and Toronto (thanks for putting our empties on the bar).
Everyone was chanting for Wheat Kings during the encore but we could leave
with Scared. I wish Gord would play to the crowd more, play the songs people
are chanting for or add a little "O Canada" for all us flag-waving Canucks
who made
the trip. I feel sorry for all my other friends who passed on the Cleveland
show and paid the same price for grass seats the next night in Detroit.
Can't wait to show them the pictures. Hopefully we can do it all again
next year.
