Played a place called THE WEB theatre tonight, which is pretty tiny compared to the massive arenas that the boys play in Canada, and the sound was pretty bad, drowning out Gord's vocals, but playing up the drums and bass in a big way.
An overly spazzed-out fan jumped on the stage, which plainly pissed off Gord, and the asshole was ejected.

Add Fireworks, Nautical, Gift, Penguin.

This was a ridiculously excellent set list.  Hope the rest (5) of the shows I'm going to are as good.
Minor downers:  guy who puked in front of me and the shite-arse who spilled beer on my Newcastle strip.  If you're out there, pal, I give you the V sign.
We also were told no taping, which turned out to be false :(

Just some thoughts on the Phoenix show:

- Great 29 song setlist (I think Ed forgot little bones midway thru the 2nd set)
- Yes, Ed won the opening song bet, but he stole my 1st choice after eliminating Grace
- Sinclair's bass was way loud, went thru my whole body
- In ten plus shows this was the first Titanic, a highlight for me
- The format was outstanding, taking a break at 13 songs and realizing the show is less than 1/2 over!!!
- Still can't figure Kate, couldn't hear her at all the 1st set, barely the 2nd, the audience seemed to want more
- Left feeling sorry for Kate, at times she made faces that indicated she knew she was a prop
- Couldn't hear much keyboard, didn't really care
- Gord's rants seemed too far from the mic, couldn't hear most of them
- Johnny was incredible
- A guy jumped on stage 2nd set, Gord responded with he is the only demi-god allowed on stage
- The band is having as much fun as ever, no hint of calling anything off
- Hope someone got a good tape!!!!!!!!!!
- Tucson tonight, hope they play wild mountain honey

Here's my (our) Arizona reviews. A little late, but we just got home. Four hour layover in Denver. Ugh. This will likely be longer than 3 paragraphs.
Sorry if you can't handle that. I'll try to keep the words short so as not to work any brains too hard.

PHOENIX
I have to preface this by saying that as of late I've been having difficulties reconciling the fact that I'm a socialist and thus must believe that all people are inherently good with the fact that the vast majority of people truly SUCK. So if my views are a little bit people-negative, I apologize. However, I maintain that the guy in the front or second row of the Phoenix show waving the Canadian flag is a complete moron. I apologize if you're on the list, but you're still a complete moron. Gord saw you. He looked annoyed. You kept waving. Good job.

The band SMOKED. Contrary to other reports, I could actually HEAR what Gord was saying a good 75% of the time in his little rants. ("Get Ralph Nader to sing my eulogy.") And Kate was amazing. There was a huge cheer from the crowd when she took a verse of Flamenco. (This was a crowd who -- at the beginning -- said "Who the hell's the chick?")Her voice works incredibly well with Gord's. And when he fucked up Wheat Kings, she took her cue from him, and then they looked at each other and cracked up. They have good onstage chemistry. And Gord did NOT seem to be toning himself down to be on his best behaviour for her. He was very, VERY animated. A guy jumped up on stage during the second set and who knew that scrawny little Billy Ray could kick so much ass? The security was sleeping until after the show, so Billy leaped on this guy and they were rolling around on stage until Gord said "That's enough, that's enough." and then went into a rant about being the only demi-God and how it takes years to get on a stage and it's not fair to do it that way.
The crowd was obnoxious. I'm not even talking about the misplaced patriotism here. They bellowed for New Orleans during Flamenco and started a "Hip Hip Hip" chant when the band was on the stage PLAYING. The concert itself was amazing, amazing, amazing. They played Long Time Running, Titanic Terrarium, and Sherpa as nice little surprises.
