Per someone's request....
Tucson show…Pima County Fairgrounds …April 11
I could really get used to this. The Hip have graced the Old Pueblo (better known as Ahem…TUCSON NOT Tuscon tshirt folks!). Last night , tucked away from the camel dung stench and mesquite grilled steak aromas of the Pima County Fair ,Gordie and the boys treated a good size crowd to wonderful show.
Songs I remember:
Opened with
Poets
Blow at High Dough
Bobcaygeon
Little Bones
Ahead By a Century
Gift Shop
Wheat kings
NO is Sinking
Vapour Trails
Travelling Man
Twist my Arm
Phantom Power
!00th Meridian
Courage
Membership
Fireworks
I know I’m forgetting something.
Anyhow. It was a gorgeous spring night at the farigrounds and Gordie’s
voice was in great shape. He mesmerized as usual, weaving interesting
interludes particularly during 100th Meridian and NO is Sinking.
These weavings seem to have become the band’s survivial mechanism for dealing
with still having to play these songs. Although I’ll never tire of
hearing them , I really love those jams and the place it takes my favorite
poet.
The band was tight as usual, got the sound worked out pretty well after
the first songs.
Another interesting thing to see in this town where few I run into
know who the Hip are , is the changing face of the crowd. When I
first started going to Hip shows (Coyotes) there just weren’t as many women..or
such a huge mix of ages. The crowd is much more diverse.
Anyone else catch the show?
Now, only every other heartbeat says “Gordie”. Love you big time!
Come back soon.
