Hope this makes the page. Regarding the Portland shows:
Thursday night's show was great, if not a little subdued both by the
band and the crowd. I'm sure the long bus trip from Spokane had something
to do withİthe energy. The set was great and included a fabulous rant during
Grace with Gordie going on about police harassment and the Presidencial
motorcade(Bush was in town to pimp for another Republican loser). The tirade
was pretty long and quite emotional. I would like to have known if the
band was just delayed or harassed by the police. Anyway, his frustration
was felt by many folks in Portland that day. No big suprises but a solid
set. Friday nightİfound both band and crowd in high energy. The band ripped
through the songs with power. Again no big suprises, though nice to hear
Vapor Trails and Chagrin Falls.
Anyway, the Hip never fail to entertain and I look forward to my next
chance to see them.İAs a US citizen, I feel previlaged to see them in such
small venues, but wish my countrymen would wake up and discover their greatness.
The thing that sets these guys apart from anyone else is that they are
about the music. Period. But what's the deal with Johnny and the one glove?İ
