Hey fellow henhousers:

Just go back into town(Buffalo) from the Rochester gig last night... amazing freakin show, I was in the second row, with periods of frontness (thanks to whoever those folks in front of me were - letting me hop up and take a ton of photos.)  I took 185
pictures with the digital camera. (there's a couple good ones in there :) - I'll attach one of my favorites.
I'll be updating my website soon, will let ya'll know when its all set.

I don't have an exact setlist... but here's what I remember being played:

(my two favorite new tunes)
The bastard
Tiger the lion
MM@W (opened with this)
Poets
Gift Shop
Freak Turbulance
Wheat Kings
Lake Fever - they sounds way off on this one.
The Completists
50 Mission Cap
100th Meridian
Wild Mountain Honey

I know they played others (I think stay & putting down), just not very solid in my memory right now.  Played one encore.

This was not an acoustic show... it was power rock.  The guys were amazing, and being such a small but exuberant crowd made this one hell of an evening. My best hip experience...  especially getting to meet with Rob, Gord S, and Paul.  Johnny and Rob left the building first.  Rob hung around for a few, JF wandered to the bus pretty quick.  It took the rest of the
boys a long time to leave - the rochester radio asses kinda monopolized their time backstage.... So when GD came out, he we being rushed by some woman - it couldn't of been his wife - she's pregnant - maybe Dave P's wife?
He didn't seem to awful happy.  Dont know what the deal was. (Dave kicked us out of backstage after several people
had wandered in) But Mr Sinclair & Langlois graciously hung out with us hardcore fans for a few minutes before that
woman came an grabbed them (musta wanted to get the hell out of Rochester).  But not until I had gotten pics with all the band members!  :)

Pretty sweet.
Stay hip,

Wow....
What an unbelivable time I had in Rochester waiting to and going to the show at the Water St. Music Hall!!  Where to start???? Well .......here I go!!
I was at work on Thursday and called the Theatre to ask someone for directions!! He said if I was planning on lining up for tickets, he would recommend getting down here soon as there were people already there and that people were calling all day!  So after work at 9 o clock, we put the plan into action!!  The man at the Theatre told me if we were there by 1 30am they would give us a ticket to stand in line at 9am the next morning so that no one had to sleep on the sidewalk!!  So....I made reservations at the Sheraton 4 Points HOtel in Downtown Rochester!!  WE packed 6 people into my Buick Regal and
headed down! We got there at midnight and proceeded to go into the club where all the other hip fans were hanging out and waiting(75)  We got our tickets that held our spots in line(The numbers 31-37) and went back to the hotel!! NOw mind you, I didn't need tickets because I won them on WCMF, but I decided I would wait for someone who couldn't get there to the morining!!  Also, we definately were now getting since 225 were allowed and we had great tickets!!
Cut to the Next Morning...........At 8 30 am I got in the shower and turned on the radio!!  The Brother Weese show was on and I learned that BRO Weese would be interviewing the Hip fron 9-11am at some Hamburger place in Henrietta( Jim Gray's or something) I decide I am going to go right after I drop off my friends at the Theatre!! So we grap all of our stuff and head to the elevator!
I hit the down button and go to tie my shoes!!  The door opens and I throw my bag in accidentely hitting someone's black beach sandle!! I look up and HOLY SHIT!!!   ITs  Gord Downie, Rob Baker , and Johnny Faye!! I walk in the elavator with a girlish giggle and the only thing I can think to say is" Shouldn't you guys be down at the interview with Brother Weese?"> .......MAN...what I am ...an asshole!!  I have a 20 sec elavator ride with the Tragically Hip and thats all I can think to say???OH Well..My brother told Gord we going to wait in line for their concert and Gord said, Thanks>>>I appreciate it!!  So......we walked out feeling quite energetic and headed to the Theatre!!
We got to the THeatre and there were roughly a hundred people lined up and ready to go!! Everyone eventually got their spot and line and the guy said one person at a time could leave the line!! SO me and my buddy head down to JIM GRAY"S for the interview!!
We get there and much to our surprise, only about 25 people were there! I couldn't believe this shit.....only 25 people turned out to see the Hip!!  I took a spot on a step and was immediatly noticed by Brother Weese(only because I spent two hours on his show in studio the week before begging for the tickets) He pointed me out and the band kind of waived!! Probably thinking, there's that wierdo from the elavator!!  We listened to the interview and it was all well and good and nothing really came out that none of us would know!! INTERESTING aside, someone stepped to the mic and talked about a certains show were Gord "was obviously messed up and had done way too much partying before the show!"  Gord took obvious exception to this and went off on the guy!! He swore at him twice and told him how ridiculous this was! Since it was live,
they weren't on delay and it got broadcast!!  Gord seemed real miffed from then on and I wanted to punch that dude for asking a dumb question!   Eventually my buddy got his cd signed ( Gord wrote...Terry @ Work) and got a pic, as did I and we were on our way back to the line at Water St!!  I dropped Terry off and headed back to Buffalo to pick up my GF who had the tickets!!
Got back to Rochester and just hung around for hours until the show started!! Me and my girlfriend lined up with all the other contest winners and were 15th in line! Talked to tons of Die Hard Hip fans and knew this show was gonna be amazing!!  They let the contest winners in and I ran to my seats, 2nd row center!  The place soon filled up and anticipation was at an all time high!!!! Around 8 30 Brother Weese came out and introduced the band!! The chants of "Hip Hip Hip" was absolutely deafining!!!  The Hip came out and went right into 'Putting Down"!! I don't remember the order of everything else cause I was having way too much fun!!  Gord woud periodically check in with Bro Weese for a little Q and A!! Among the many questions ranged from "Napster........Get Back Again.......What Nautical Disaster was about?"  and others that I am sure will be posted about!!
At this point , I knew there was only one Q and A left so I left my 2nd row Centers and looked for Bro Weese so I could ask a question! I tracked him down and he said "Bro Gary, Wanna be next?"   I said hell yea...so now it was time to think!! The band did a beautiful version of Toronto 4 and Gord sent it over to Brother Weese!!
Brother said we got another question from the back here.......He hands me the mic and it goes like this:::::
I say "Gord , hows it going up there"?  He saids everything is wondeful and asks my name!  I say "Gary from Buffalo, I think we have alot of BUffalo people here to see ya tonite"  At this point the crowd erupts and you can hear "Lets Go Buffalo" chants throughout this tiny place!!  I wait for it to quiet down and take the mic over and say..." I was to understand that you guys would be taking requests tonite,(at this point the crowd starts cheering).....I talked to alot of people tonite and I know a lot of people would like to hear either "Small Town Bringdown" (no real audience response since I made this up because it is a personal favorite) or "Pigeon Camera" ( at which point the audience went absolutely nuts!) Gord says "  I guess we can do one of those"  I damn near shit myself and dart back to my seat for the opening lick of PIGEON CAMERA!!!  IT was absolutely amazing, everyone around me is congratulatin me and thanking me and the place is going nuts!! The crowd basically overtakes
Gord's vocals and erupts when the song is done!! I DEFINATELY THINK THIS WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SHOW!!    From there The band did "Tiger the Lion"  "100th Meridian"  "50 mission cap" and "Wheat Kings" just to name a few!!
This was the absolute best Hip performance I have ever been privy to! I could now believe how good the setlist(sorry bout not posting the whole thing) was and how funny Gord was during Q and A!!  I also couldn't belive they took my request to play "Pigeon Camera"!  NOw I know some people taped the show, and I hope copy's of it start floating around soon!!   What a Weekend, I met the band twice, got pics taken, had great seats to the show, and got to request a song"

God BLESS THE HIP!!!!!
Next stop for me.........Cleveland OH   July 14

Stay Hip

I, as well, made it to the Rochester show Friday evening.  I arrived at 8:00 pm on Thursday and was # 10 in line.  We had to be at the bar at 9:00 pm on Thursday, then return at 1:30 am, and then at 9:00 am Friday to remain in line until the show that evening.
We decided to get a hotel room and ran into Gord Sinclair and Rob Baker outside of the lobby waiting for a cab and chatted for about 10 minutes.  Then as we were heading back to the bar at 1:00 am, Gord and Rob were coming back for the night.
In the morning - Gord D, Gord S, and Paul were in the lobby.  Gord D looked like he didn't want to be bothered, as he had a hat covering his face and his head down.
We waited in line from 8:30 until 4:00 and had a great time sitting outside on a beautiful day and meeting fellow Hip fans.
The show was great.  The band honored most requests including Pigeon Camera, Wheat Kings, and 50 Mission Cap.

It was the first time I heard Pigeon Camera live - and I was floored by it.

Another song of notable mention, which was so unbelievably powerful played live, was "Tiger the Lion."  To be honest, it was my least favorite song on the cd, although after hearing it live it gave the song an entirely new meaning and depth.  Now  "Tiger the Lion" has climbed to one of my favorites on the cd. It's amazing how seeing the song performed live can change your perceptions. Powerful is the only word to describe it.
To add to the setlist below, they played the following, in no particular order:

Puttin' Down (1st song)
My Music at Work
Bobcageon
Wheat Kings
50 Mission Cap
Pigeon Camera
Train Overnight
Fireworks
Poets
100th Meridian
The Bastard
Freak Turbulence
Toronto #4
Lake Fever
The Completists
Tiger the Lion
Gift Shop (last song)

Overall, I had a great time and arriving at the venue 24 hours before the show made the experience even more worthwhile and enjoyable.
