Hey folks!

Just got in from a 9 1/2 hr. drive from Saskatoon to see the show last
night, and here are my thoughts:
The setlist was much better than the night before in Winnipeg, but then
again, that is just my opinion. Yawning was a nice surprise, as was
Emperor Penguin. Here is the setlist, and a few comments peppered
throughout:

FIREWORKS: A great starter. "Fireworks. I'm goin' to vegas."
TWIST MY ARM: Gord forgot the 'Blow me over...' line at the beginning,
but that is expected :)
GRACE, TOO: 'He said I'm Tragically Hip...', a common occurence on this
tour. He was mumbling something at the end about "foreign culture".
SOMETHING ON: "It's Something On. That's what it is. Really!" He acted
out the first four lines of the song, pretending he had a video camera
in his hand, and being sick, with the back of his wrist up against his
forehead.
GIFTSHOP: A great lighting job for this song!
YAWNING OR SNARLING: A beauty of a surprise! My mouth was gaping when I
heard the haunting bass line coming from Gord S. Gord D. used a marracca
during the song, which added nicely to the sound of the song. Not much
crowd recognition amongst the mostly 15-18 year old crowd.
POETS: The first song to pull everyone out of their seats. Gord keeps
the maracca.
COURAGE: The entire crowd sang along, which is a cool feeling. Gord was
'loading his gun' like he does during Meridian.
THE LUXURY: Another song that quieted the crowd, but I thought it was
funky. It always is. Gord pulled out his banana for this song, which
incidentally, did not make an appearance in Winnipeg.
700 FT. CEILING: A stunning version! Paul and Robby really grinded the
sound out, and the crowd certainly felt it!
AHEAD BY A CENTURY: "This is for your girlfriend." A real crowd-pleaser,
as everyone had a good time with this one.
SO HARD DONE BY: "This is a banana. It's useful."
NAUTICAL DISASTER: This song with played with tons of emotion. A great
blue lighting for the stage added to the whole effect.
EMPEROR PENGUIN: "Play Misty for me." Unfortunately, this song silenced
the crowd again. Maybe not enough recognition? Gord did a little bit of
"Jet" at the end.
NOIS: A great version of Insomniacs in the middle. I went to this
concert with my Mom, and this was the first song she stood up for: "Well
I HAVE to stand for THIS song!"
ESCAPE...: An outstanding song live, which I knew already, but hits was
a great version, especially with Gord S. introducing the first bass line
alone before the rest of the band starting into it.
LITTLE BONES: Wow!
E1:
WE'LL GO TOO: I love this song, and they certainly didn't disappoint!
BOBCAYGEON: Probably the best-received of the PP songs.
100th MERIDIAN: "At the hundredth meridian, where the popcorn trail
begins." The guys really had fun on stage during this one. A great,
funky riff in the middle, looks like it was maybe right off the top of
their heads.
E2:
SAVE THE PLANET: "Save the planet. I dare ya."
WHEAT KINGS: Just loaded with emotion, given what the song is all about.
Gord threw a little bit of "If You Lived Here" into it at the end.
ON THE VERGE: What a show closer! I've heard this on the 98 US tour
bootlegs, but actually seeing it is even more astounding!

Well, that's it. The crowd was a lot more accepting in Winnipeg, but as
I said before, the set was better in Saskatoon!

That's all I have to say, about that.
