The show was GREAT...two words....FUCKING AWESOME.....
The lead band, Change of Heart, wasn't too bad....I didn't care for them that much and neither did the people I went with. The Odds kicked ass.  Great set, and they used the lights and stuff really well...I'd go see them alone, but with them and the Hip on one ticket, you can't miss!!
Now, onto the main band, and the one you wanted to read about....the Hip!!
They came onstage at around 9:45 and opened up the back curtains....and this huge video screen was back there.  It really added something to the performance...the video itself was grainy and didn't have any real subject.....mostly looked like home videos shot in the woods....pics of buildings and rocks and water and other stuff...
I didn't recognise the first song they played, but seeing as I don't have the new CD, that would explain it....the second song was Fully Completly (sp?) and they did a great job of it.  Gord was bouncing off the walls, kicking the shit out of the mike stand,
singing his little heart out, and really putting on a great show....All the guys were great.
Now, onto the bad stuff...We had around 300 people on the floor, and during a song a fight broke out.  Gord sorta waited until
the band was playing a bridge, and then proceeded to yell at the guy who started it!  He said something like this:
"Hey!!  Hey, you, yeah, you in the red shirt!!  What the FUCK are you doing?  There's no fucking place for fighting here!!  You
stupid shithead, this is fucking bullshit man, fucking bullshit...."
Anyway, the guards came in and kicked the guy out, and Gord apologized to the crowd for this guy, saying:
"In 1995, only someone that is drunk or stupid or both would fight at a rock concert.  Now, that looks fucking horrible from
up here, so it must look really bad to you people down there....I apologize for that asshole!!"
Also, the crowd on the floor was throwing food, glow-sticks, and shoes (yes, shoes) at the band, which was a real disgrace...
Gord handled that quite well, I thought....he said "Wow, one of you guys must have great aim....cause you knocked out the box that the bass was plugged into....now we don't have any base...and I thank you!!!"
Of course, this happened before the fight, so he was probably in a better mood....
He also said that "for every object that is thrown onto the stage, I will rip one stich out of your mother's cesarian scar!!  That's
how I feel about it..."
Anyway, I'm goin to bed...if you want anything more on the concert, write me at fastjack@mi.net...L8r!!

Stay frosty...
