I enjoyed seeing The Watchmen and wished that they could have played a longer set (we missed half of it) and I was definitely surprised at how many Great Big Sea fans there were. For their set I was convinced that more people were there to see them then the Hip but of course once the Hip came on I was proved very wrong.
So while the crowd had lots of people there to see the Hip there seemed to be few big hip fans in the front and we were treated to the usual assortment of drunk people (even though there was no beer tent) pushing through to the front. There was also a lot of crowd surfing. There must have been at least 5 people who passed over my head. And up front was certainly packed tighter than all the other shows I've been to this year.
The Hip were good. Not great, but certainly not bad. I'm not going to even take a stab at the set list but this being my fifth show this year I must say I was a little disappointed with the setlist because I'm pretty sure I had already heard all the songs previously this year. So when I got home I spent some time reading through their setlists trying to see which songs they've been playing that I hadn't yet heard and I must admit there's very few. I'm not really complaining, just wishing they'd dig just a little bit deeper into previous unplayed material.
Two of the song highlights of the show was they played the first bit of unplucked gems as a lead into dire wolf, and 100th meridian had a good deal of fairly audible ranting in the middle.
Okay so I lied here is a stab at the set list:

I found Gord to be much more animated than the last few shows that I
have seen (most recently both in Toronto). His facial expressions, and
his antics made me laugh may times.
The guys in the band also caught my attention more this show than others.
My favourite moment was during the intro to Poets; Gord D 'faked' the guys
out and they sorta stretched the riff out one more time. Robby and Gord
S. looked at one another and laughed.
Lawn chairs were a pain. I think allowing the chairs is great, but
keep them back from the front of the stage. I saw numerous people fall
over, or onto the people in their chairs. It just made for a lot of unhappy
people.
The other thing I noticed was a lot of people who were intoxicated
(booze or drugs, you choose) to the point of passing out. My buddy and
I actually caught a guy who fainted. His buddies didn't seem to care. To
quote them, "this BC bud is the best shit ever!!" Meanwhile their friend
is out cold in our arms.
I saw a couple of tapers. Just to the side of the soundboard someone
had about a ten foot mic stand, with a couple of blue capped mics.
Right next to me in front of the stage was a young guy with mics clipped
to his ball cap. I only saw one video camera on a tripod. I would love
to get a copy of the show if it is available.

Ps. Did any of the other attendees notice the large number of OPP officers?
I was shocked.
Overall, great show... the place went crazy for Blow at high dough!Ý
I have some really good shots from up close if anyone has a place I can post them....
